    cozy bar
    great restaurant

Nice place with a cozy bar/lounge area, great restaurant, and free parking. The staff once helped me with transport, which I appreciated. I highly recommend trying the homemade dishes. I'm coming back for Christmas!

    home-cooked meals
    historic charm
    mobile signal issues
    lack of luxury
    basic amenities

Nestled in a breathtaking valley, the charm of this historic hotel, with its well-kept private bathrooms and home-cooked meals, made the stay memorable. The Climbers Bar is a highlight, boasting a warm atmosphere, live music, and an impressive selection of real ales. Although the lack of mobile signal could be inconvenient, the robust Wi-Fi connection compensates for it remarkably well.

great location but uncomfortable bathroom access

The location is breathtaking, with stunning views that left a lasting impression. The food offered was delicious, with a great variety that caters to different tastes.

The bathroom arrangement was a bit inconvenient, as it was not directly attached to the room.

    friendly staff
    charming building
    old-fashioned decor
    lack of mobile reception
    narrow room options

A lovely experience with friendly staff who created a welcoming atmosphere. The building exudes charm, with cozy, recently decorated rooms. Enjoying home-cooked Italian dishes in the Climbers Bar, enhanced by live music, made for delightful evenings. the old-fashioned decor might not appeal to everyone, and the lack of mobile reception could be inconvenient for some travelers.

    would return anytime

The rustic ambiance with old-world charm sets the scene perfectly. My single room, with a private bathroom just steps away, was super comfy and had everything like towels, a hairdryer, and even body soap. The dining experience was delightful, featuring hearty, homemade meals and a cozy bar with local ales. The stunning mountain views are breathtaking after a long hike.

The roaring fire in the Climbers Bar created a cozy atmosphere after a long day of hiking. The genuine warmth from fellow patrons made it clear I was in a true Cumbrian gem.

    cozy room

    Perfect for solo hikers

The place is a gem. The Climbers Bar is just what you need after a grueling day on the trails. The open fire and local ales truly hit the spot, nothing beats that after being wet and cold from the fells. I had a fantastic pie that warmed me right up, and the locals were superb company. Staff were knowledgeable, cracking witty banter while serving delicious food. Honestly, can't recommend this place enough. My room was cozy, freshly decorated, and had a bathroom that felt more like a private retreat.

Wasn't exactly a bargain but considering the experience, it was worth it.

    authentic vibe
    comfy bed

    Ideal for solo mountaineering adventurers

The place has got an authentic vibe, classic old Lake District hotel, nothing fancy. The bed was comfy and warm, especially since I came during winter mountaineering. After a long day outside, the vibe in the bar was very nice, I could’ve joined in the fun if I wasn't so tired.
